This weapon is to be compared to any of the M4 style weapons made by the "BIG" name companies out there. This weapon will fire any ammo you feed it, from the cheapest Russian ammo to the most expensive match ammo. Over 2000 rounds fired 0 malfunctions. Great Gun!!!! Additionally BUDS was great, the gun shipped fast with no issue or delay.

I was looking for my first AR to be inexpensive, not a whole lot of bells and whistles (read inexpensive), but accurate and well made. What I found was this absolute gem of a rifle.
I have had a chance to throw about 600 rounds downrange since getting my DS M4 and I am thoroughly impressed. This is my first AR rifle but I have shot others, including Bushmasters, Olympics, and even Colts. I'm not an afficianado but I just can't tell the difference shooting my DS against any of the other ones I have shot. The DS feels every bit as solid as any of the others, and even moreso then most of the others that I held in gun and pawn shops while I was shopping for my first AR. When I installed my Strikefire Vortex red/green dot on it and bore sighted it, I was on paper on the first magazine at 100yds. 1.5" groups in 2 magazines! The guy (pretty much considered a firearms expert) I had helping me set it up was very impressed with this rifle (that's saying something considering his personal armory!). He commented that he thought it would take much longer to get a 16" 5.56 on paper out of the box, and also commented on it's build quality and finish.
The rifle is built to VERY tight tolerances (you will figure this out when you break it down the first time) and is extremely solid. The trigger is as to be expected for a sub-$700 rifle, but still crisp with very little creep and almost no grit at all. Front sight looks molded and cheap, but that's the only complaint on the whole rifle. The rest of it looks mil-spec. Firing it reveals suprising recoil control and accuracy for a rifle at the bottom of the price range. It ate up my ATI (turkish military overstock) 62gr FMJ with no FTF/FTE. I ran 10 rounds of custom match ammo through it and got a suprising 1.25" group @ 100yds.
My experience with Buds was great (not excellant, but great). The rifle was oversold when I purchased it, but within 2 days time, they had resupplied from Doublestar and my total waiting time from purchase to receipt was about 1 week. I am a little miffed about the extra magazines I ordered. I got 2 extra DS magazines (so I thought) and got 2 magazines, but they didn't have the Doublestar bottom plate, they had the original manufacturer's "C-Products" bottom plate. Buds lost some style points from me since I paid extra for the DS magazines hoping to get DS branded ones, but got the magazines they sell for under $10 on their regular side of the house.
To summarize, if you are looking for your first AR, or looking for an AR as a base to build a great rifle with, I really believe this is the best place to start. I saved a TON by going with the Doublestar. Their communication is excellant (albeit slow), and they are close to me in KY. The money I saved on this rifle went to the great scope and will go to tons of ammo. YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS PURCHASE!!!

Right out of the box I was impressed! This rifle looked and felt great. Took it to the range and put 300 rnds through it with no problems at all. I thought this rifle felt and shot better that my friends "High End" AR. The company took their time shipping my rifle to me, which I was a little disappointed since I heard reviews of Bud's being such a "quick ship" company, but I'm not going to knock the review of the rifle down because I was disappointed in the company. I would definitely recommend!

I was notified on Monday morning that it was back in stock and my FFL had it that Frioday afternoon. FANTASTIC service at Buds... The weapon shoots extremely well. I have been around M4's most of my military career and I will say that this Doublestar has a tighter fit, a better trigger, and both the upper and lower receivers fit better (I mean they are perfectly matched with zero play), then any of the M4's which I have carried into combat on my last four tours. The finish on this weapoin is superb. Not only am I amazed that the weapon was only $654, but that it completely outshoots many of the $900-$1200 5.56/.223 that was on the range today. 500 .223 rounds and 150 5.56 with zero problems. This thing rocks. I imagine with the current world situation being what it is that everyone and their brother is trying to get one of these most excellent weapons -- and I appreciate all the fine work Bud did to make sure I could get one. My advice - if they ever do come back in stock again - snatch it up - if you don't like ti you can always sell it for a couple $100 more then you paid for it...

Nothing but good things to say about this rifle and Bud's!! Great to deal with, quick shipping, and the gun definitely exceeded my expectations for the price. If anyone is on a budget for an AR, really give this gun a chance.

Picked up my rifle in store. Just have to say it is an awesome store.. My wife probably wont let me go back, but anyway..
The rifle is great. Cant go wrong with DoubleStar.
the upper and lower fit together better than my any of my other ARs. the finish is great, weapon well oiled when I picked it up, and boy was it nice to still have money left for ammo!

5/5 easy. Why spend more when you can get the same top-quality firearm in a doublestar.

good price ...never shot a ds , but the reviews look good. I ordered my on 1/15 and still waiting..10 days have past and still nothing ,no updating online or emails . customer service said they were going to start shipping again on 01/25 and that they over sold this weapon . Im still waiting.

Just got my rifle in today, took it out and put 50 rounds through it. Rifle functioned perfectly without flaw using Remington UMC ammo. Very impressed with Doublestar and Bud's! This def will not be my only purchase from Bud's or Doublestar. Very pleased! Thanks Bud's

I've owned and built a number of Double Star rifles and I keep buying them. If your looking for a very well built AR-15 that rock and rolls all the time, the Double Star is what you want. Their price is great, but if your looking for a "name" S&W, Bushmaster, Colt, DPMS and so on. Don't waste your money on just a name. I'll go one on one with my DS with any other stock Black rifle out there and kick their butts, plus I'll have extra cash for ammo too.

This rifle lives up to the hype. almost bought the Bushmaster but I am glad I saved that money for ammo. this rifle is as put together as any of the so called big boy names. do not let this go i dont think it will stay at this price forever. get it while you can you wont be dissapointed

This is a great rifle!! Fit and finish is outstanding!! Have had it at the range twice now and have had no issues either time, using several types of ammo and mags. Not a single failure of any kind, something I can't say for my S&W 15A (excellent rifle with just a few jams first time out) which cost several hundred more. Also have a SIG556 that didn't perform as well as the Doublestar has. Highly recommend it!!

Before I bought my Black Rifle I did extensive research on some of the major models then I found an article on the Doublestar M4/AR15's which told me that they are a local Kentucky AR manufacturer with there parent company supplying AR parts for like 20+ years to the AR community. So every review I've read they talk about the quality and it is apparent in this rifle, from the first moment I held it in my hands the finish was smooth with no tooling marks anywhere on the rifle. The black finish was smooth and uniformed, no drips or sags. The action of the gun is tight and all parts glide across each other like butter. I dropped some trijicon nights sights on it with a ccg flip up rear site and a Vortex red/green dot sight on it and it looks awesome. Also got the CMMG .22 conversion so I can plink with this rifle.
Buds Police Supply is a great store to deal with, if you can get over to the store I highly recommend stopping by as JR and the crew will take care of you and all your needs. They also know that Bud runs a tight ship and that customer service is a priority for Bud. Thanks again for a great deal on a great rifle, Bud, JR and the rest of the crew.

I did a lot of research before I bought this rifle and believe me you will NOT find a better price. I am in law enforcement and talked to a few officers about the Doublestar and got nothing but good reviews. I give kudos to the guys at Bud's, No problems or hassles when buying my rifle. I have a duty carry Bushmaster and this weapon is every bit or better. The only drawback is that the handguard is a bit too big for me but other than that this a very fine weapon. I will for sure be buying my next weapon from these fellas!

Love this gun! I bought this gun from a local FFL store and I have to say it looks good. I would not hesitate by buy anotherone. I took it out to the range and fired 100 rounds through it and I did not have a single problem the gun felt solid. My step son fired it and said that it looked and felt as good as his bushmaster. Bottom line you can't go wrong with this gun.

Outstanding! As a Police Officer for mmore than 19 years I have shot just about everything out there. I used to have a Bushmaster AR that used all the time and I really liked it but I have to say that when I purchased this DoubleStar M4 I was a little skeptical that it would be as compatible. First I would like to say that the purchase from Bud's was nothing but a great exerience and very professional. I thought that since it was so close to the holiday that I would have to wait until after to recieve it. They shipped it out the next morning and I recieved it within 2 dyas of that! Very fast shipping and packaged good. I then took it out to the range, inspected it and then fired approx. 50 rounds through it. I was very impressed! This M4 shoots just as good if not a little smoother then my Bushmaster did. I am sold and will look for more DoubleStar products. I will always look at Bud's website first. It is really hard to find a place online that has great products and great service as well. Thank you guys and I am now going to purchse some accessories for this rifle!
