I bought this for my off duty carry. My duty weapon is MP40, so I selected this weapon specifically so that the manual of arms will be the same. Before the purchase, I thought that shorter grip may make the pleasant shooting MP40 a little uncomfortable, but the compact is almost as soft shooting as the full size brother. After little practice, I'm getting better score on my qualification with Compact model than with full size weapon. Imagine that.

I hear lot of complaint about the magazine without finger extension, but I shoot better with the magazine without the finger extension. One call to S&W customer service, and they sent me couple of the base plate without finger extension free of charge. Great customer support.

My only complaint is that the 10th round is hard to load in the magazine, and that the fully loaded magazine is a little hard to seat.

Overall, I highly recommend MP40c to anyone thinking of carry weapon.

I bought this one for a conceal carry weapon. It shoots nice tight groups. One of the only two things I don't like about this weapon is the last round is really hard to get into the magazine. The second is if the magazine does does not have the finger rest, it makes it a little unconfortable to shoot (I ordered the finger rest bottom from S&W for $1.99 each and it makes a huge difference). The night sights are nice and bright and the weapon is confortable with my inside the waistband holster. There was a little difficulty in finding accessories when I first bought it but they are now plentiful. There are even Crimson Trace grips for it!!! I bought it in November "08 and two days later, my wife bought the same weapon because she liked shooting mine so much. She liked the different size palm grips, and was able to customize hers to her small hands. Four months later we still love the weapon and have no complaints. Easy to clean and reassemble.
