This M60 Pro is a great little revolver. You really can't do much better for a car gun or a companion to take with you in the backcountry on fishing or camping trips. This gun is light enough to pack all day and hardly notice it is there but at the same time it has a long enough barrel to shoot groups at 25 yards. The M60 Pro is the best feeling revolver that I have ever owned (apologies to the M19 2 1/2 inch that has been with me through many trials) this is because of the perfect balance that the M60 has as well as the fantastic wood grips that come with it. They aren't just for looks; I doubt you will ever be tempted to throw a set of Houge grips on this gun.
I have shot this gun will all manner of 38 special FMJ and wad-cutters with great accuracy results. I have also put quite a few rounds of 38 Special +P and 357 Magnum ammo through it as well. As expected from a J-Frame, full power 125 grain 357 rounds are a little painful but they are manageable (shooting 357's through a J-Frame is an acquired taste so give it a try a few times before writing the M60 off as a 38 +P gun.) My favorite load through this gun is the 135 gr 38 Special +P Speer Gold Dots that are designed for short-barrel revolvers. I have found that this load has the power that I need and provides great accuracy, speed, and low muzzle flash. When I carry in social situations I load this gun up with the Gold Dots but for backcountry use I usually put a round of CCI Snakeshot followed by three Gold Dots topped off with a 357 to give me a gentle nudge to let me know that I am in need of a reload.
The only complaint that I would have for Smith and Wesson on this revolver is that the lock-up was not great from the factory. I'm sure this is within their specs but it is on the border of not being acceptable for a Pro Series Smith NIB. The timing was good but I would have liked to see better lock up. It doesn't seem to affect the accuracy but time will tell how well the gun ages, hopefully it will not get worse. Other than the lock-up issue, this is a fantastic little gun and you will not be sorry that you put your money down for this one.
Note: The looks may offend the sensibilities of purists but this gun performs and the weight reduction really makes this gun a dream to handle and carry.
